Under the supervision of the Career and Technical Education Director, the Communications Specialist will: become aware of accomplishments, projects, and events within Career and Technical Education programs and communicate this information to appropriate internal and external parties; work with department chairs and members within the CTE programs to gather newsworthy information about the programs and individual faculty and staff; prepare, produce and disseminate CTE information to various campus publications and departments as well as the news media, in collaboration with University Marketing; design and produce brochures, announcements, newsletters and various materials; assist in planning and coordinating school events hosted on and off campus: increase student engagement, and diversity inclusion by working collaboratively to establish and coordinate initiatives and activities; develop and coordinate programs and events to increase and promote the involvement and completion of Career and Technical Education students at the University.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree, plus one year of marketing/design experience OR a combination of relevant education and experience totaling five years.
Knowledge and experience in Career and Technical Education areas relating to student development and completion, underrepresented populations, and goal assessment strategies.
Knowledge and experience working with multimedia, specifically electronic media.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be competent in writing and editing for CTE informational copy and feature writing.
Strong oral communication and business writing skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse community.
Ability to manage several diverse projects simultaneously.
Ability to use electronic content-management tools.
Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare reports.
