The position has two primary roles. The instructor role encompasses teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Global Business Program and other marketing courses as assigned. The program director role involves leading the efforts to build and sustain a self-supporting Global Business Program for the Culverhouse College of Commerce. The position will manage all aspects of corporate, student, and financial development, including relationships with key stakeholders nationally and internationally. Global Business serves the college and university. As such, the position will have responsibility for (a) working with all departments within the college in terms of faculty, classes, and students, (b) working with faculty, students, and programs across campus which have a global, cross-cultural, or international focus ( c) sustaining and building the college-level International Advisory Board (IBAB) as well as (d) providing an advisory and support role for the college-level International Programs Committee (IPC) which deals primarily with the faculty and student side of college-sponsored Study Abroad programs, and (e) being a liaison between the program, department, and college with Capstone International. Finally, the position has managerial responsibilities with respect to Global Business Program staff.

The Culverhouse College of Commerce at the University of Alabama invites applications for a non-tenure earning three-year renewable position in Marketing effective August 16, 2015. Salary is competitive.
Minimum qualifications: A Master’s degree in marketing or business or closely related field is required. Candidates are required to have at least 5 years of business experience, with at least 2 years spent working outside of the United States.
Candidates should exhibit strong team and project-management skills. A broad “managerial” skillset (such as services, management, IT, finance, etc.) is preferable given the cross-departmental nature of the program. Specialized training at the graduate level in global business is preferred as is a candidate who is multi-lingual and who has substantial experience working in multiple countries around the globe. Candidates should exhibit (a) a desire to utilize their industry experience in building the UA Global Business Program through student mentoring and teaching, and the development of corporate and university partnerships, and (b) a willingness to work with other program directors and administrators across all levels of the university in building a robust Global Business Program. Candidates with experience working/teaching in a university setting will also be given preference.
This is a non-tenure earning position renewable for three-year periods at the discretion of the University with no expectation of continued employment beyond any three-year contract period. Continuation of this appointment to its scheduled termination date is dependent upon meeting the department and college performance standards and compliance with all policies in the faculty handbook and general UA employment policies.
