The Department of Learning and Teaching at the University of San Diego seeks qualified applicants for a tenure track position as an assistant professor in instructional/educational technology or related field. The position includes expectations in teaching, scholarship, and professional service. The individual will assume an integral position in the University’s Mobile Technology Learning Center (MTLC) conducting research and participating in ongoing strategic planning.
Qualifications: Candidates for this position must meet the following minimum criteria:
• Earned doctorate in Education Technology or a related field prior to contract start date.
• Demonstrated teaching excellence in both K-12 and university settings.
• Strong knowledge of current research, policy, and best practices in education technology.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education, access, and equity for all students.
• Demonstrated ability to research and publish for both academic and practitioner audiences.
• Experience teaching online education.
• A second area of expertise is encouraged.
• Experience teaching digital technology infused courses and integrating critical perspectives and theories of educational technology into students’ learning and research experiences.
• Experience designing courses and developing innovative pedagogy with technology into teaching in K-12 settings.
• Established research agenda that includes innovative educational technology topics
• Grant development experience.
Responsibilities: This position will involve teaching and advising responsibilities at the credential, master’s and doctoral level. Candidates will be expected to teach both onsite and online courses, advise candidates in classroom-based action research and thesis research, collaborate with faculty and MTLC staff and graduate students. Faculty members are also expected to demonstrate scholarly productivity, as reflected in research grants, publications, and professional presentations. Support for research activities and travel is available for faculty members.

The Department of Learning and Teaching at USD includes both credential and master’s degree programs in elementary education, secondary education, special education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
