PART-TIME TECHNICAL ASSISTANT II, ACADEMIC PLACEMENT AND TESTING - LAWRENCE CAMPUS: (Assessment Center) 20 hours weekly Monday 2:30 PM - 8:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday 1:30 PM - 7:00 PM, which includes a half hour lunch period. Occasional Saturdays may be required. (AFSCME Unit Position) Anticipated start date: July, 2015
This position will be based in the Academic Placement and Testing Center, Lawrence Campus. Greet and provide assistance to all students who require testing. Administer and proctor tests including Accuplacer state-mandated assessments, English as a Second Language and Health Professions Testing. Assist in the administration of other test services such as proctored and remote testing, accommodated testing, assessments for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and other testing as necessary. Ensure an environment that is conducive to testing during late afternoon and evening hours. This includes following all established testing policies and regulations to maintain the integrity of high stakes test sessions, maintaining a quiet test environment and accommodating the needs of individual students in a confidential manner. Participate in special assessments which may require occasional weekend, early morning or off-site sessions. In addition to testing, this person will answer general walk-in and phone inquiries, assist students, proctor tests and to close the office. Other responsibilities include light data entry, generating mailings, placing orders and other light office work as necessary.
One to two years of full-time office experience or equivalent part-time experience required. Associate's Degree in Human Services, Education or related field preferred. Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office required. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, team oriented environment with the ability to multi-task. Demonstrated sensitivity, patience and a customer-service friendly attitude to first-time college students from a wide variety of backgrounds required. Must have strong verbal and organizational skills as well as the ability to pay attention to detail. Must be comfortable giving detailed instructions to small groups and on an individual, walk-in basis in order to clearly communicate testing instructions. Experience with college entrance assessment, Accuplacer and other test systems strongly preferred. Bilingual ? English/Spanish preferred.
Salary: $370.18 - $501.43 weekly ($19,249.36 - $26,074.36 annually) with pro-rated fringe benefits. An appointment from outside the bargaining unit (AFSCME) must start at Step I of the range. (Step 1: $370.18)
