Detailed Job Description

The Wheelchair Sports Coach is responsible for overseeing all team practices (coaching and training), weight training, sporting events, team auditions, recruitment, and tournaments and fundraising events.

Additional Department Summary:

This position is for a Wheelchair Sports Coach in the Adapted Athletics program at the University of Alabama. The person in this position will report to the Director of Adapted Athletics. This person will coach a high performance wheelchair sport. This is a part-time position. This position will be renewed annually based on performance and funding.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and experience coaching in a specified sport OR High School diploma or GED and experience coaching wheelchair sports.

Skills and Knowledge:

Ability to organize and coach daily wheelchair sport practices • Ability to recruit and retain student athletes • Ability to organize and host wheelchair sports tournaments and fundraising events.

Preferred Qualifications:

Wheelchair sport coaching experience at a national level for the designated field. Wheelchair sport coaching experience in NWBA National Wheelchair Basketball Association. Non Classified - Grade NA
