Detailed Job Description
The IT Technical Specialist IV performs advanced IT activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of IT principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards and university policy. Requires a great amount of evaluation, originality or ingenuity. May be responsible for training, assisting or supervising lower level IT personnel and other staff. May lead projects and cross-functional activities.
Additional Department Summary:
Under the direction of the Associate University Registrar for Student Information Systems, supports, enhances, and maintains the University's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Application Systems by analyzing, designing, estimating, developing, documenting, testing, and implementing required changes. Acts as a direct liaison with the Office of Information Technology as well as user, technical support, training and operations personnel. Provides organizational coordination and scheduling support for projects. Provides technical and administrative support to the Office of the University Registrar. Performs complex programming tasks on critical application upgrades, application enhancements and new development. Primary responsibilities include maintaining a high level of expertise on the Ellucian Banner application, Banner Workflow, Degree Works, and Evisions Argos. This position is centered on working with software development technologies and other software applications. Incumbent must supply technical leadership, in regards to supporting and enhancing the administrative systems via reports, web applications and other software. The incumbent will develop software solutions (using SQL scripts and other languages/software/tools) for business intelligence, data analysis, correction and maintenance, and will often work with a team of developers (potentially both professional staff and students).
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of professional IT experience, OR Master's degree and 1 year of professional IT experience, OR any equivalent combination of experience, training, education and/or certification from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been obtained. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications. May require advanced level training or certification.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field. Three (3) years professional IT experience to include applications development experience in a large systems environment. Knowledge of principles and techniques of web based systems accessing a relational database management system. Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, and security technology skills, as well as project management methods and applications. Proficiency in the knowledge of database structures, tables, fields, queries, SQL scripts, Oracle Procedural Language/Structured Query Language [PL/SQL] and use of Unix/Linux client server/systems. Valid U.S. driver's license required. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier.
