Detailed Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will diagnose and manage acute, episodic and chronic psychiatric related conditions, and coordinate psychiatric care for UVU students, establish and implement treatment plans, as well as order and interpret diagnostic, physical, psychological and laboratory testing.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Nursing and APRN License for the State of Utah, Controlled Substance License for the State of Utah, and NPI number.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Nursing, plus one year of full-time experience in a psychiatric clinical setting.


Provide appropriate ongoing care and follow up care as needed.
Knowledge of psychological testing, determining need and referring when appropriate.
Knowledge of psychiatric medications and the management of in patent treatment.
Comply with all HIPAA privacy rules and maintain appropriate documentation standards.


Skill in diagnosing psychiatric realted conditions based on current DSM-V criteria.
Interpret diagnostic conclusions and determine appropriate treatment strategies.
Coordinate care with other staff members when appropriate.


Ability to prescribe pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a diverse population.
Possess ability to examine/interview patient using history taking and psychiatric assessment skills.
Act as a resource within SHS and Student Life in area of specialty.
Maintain continuing education credits.

Pay Range

$67,716 - $80,273
