Teaches assigned 5/5 course load in the Department of Philosophy & Humanities. Plans, develops, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials. Supervises individuals and groups in classrooms. Mentors students during the development, presentation, and defense of a thesis as needed. Evaluates instruction and learning by means of written, verbal, practical, and performance tests. Assists in recruitment, advisement, and placement of students. Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records related to student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up. Establishes and maintains office hours and advises students as needed. Assists department chairperson, advisors, faculty, and staff in maintaining an effective program and promotes the general well-being of the department, college, and university. Serves on committees and attends meetings as required.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a doctorate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught or master’s degree plus two years of experience in a related discipline. Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level is required.
Knowledge of current instruction theory, methods, strategies, and techniques.
Knowledge of student management, motivation, evaluation techniques.
Skill in teaching, mentoring, research productivity, and commitment to professional development.
Skill in effective instructional strategies and techniques.
Able to work in a multi-disciplinary collegiate team environment.
An individual who meets at least one of the following criteria may apply for this position as an in-house applicant:
-Adjunct faculty status for at least two full semesters immediately prior to the position’s opening date, OR
-Non-Student Part-time hourly employee hired through the official University screening process, or informal hiring process employed a minimum of 6 consecutive months, working at least an average of 20 hours per week, immediately prior to the position’s opening date, OR
-Salaried employee employed a minimum of 6 consecutive months, working at least an average of 30 hours per week, immediately prior to the position’s opening date.
