PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR - JOB #2242
The Physical Therapist Assistant Instructor position is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of Spring 2015, though the start date may be negotiated. This position requires effective teaching and advising of diverse students and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will teach a wide range of courses within the physical therapy assisting program, as assigned, with the possibility of district-wide, day and evening teaching assignments. The successful candidate will also serve as the Program Director, as assigned. In the role of program director, the instructor will manage CAPTE accreditation issues, such as reporting, and maintenance of standards; assist the department head with coordinating course scheduling for the program; and assist in coordination and oversight of adjunct faculty. The instructor will also participate in recruitment; participate on department and College committees; participate in other professional development and service opportunities at the College; and perform other duties as required. This position reports to the District Academic Department Head, Allied Health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a CAPTE accredited institution with a minimum of a master’s degree in physical therapy; five years of clinical experience including experience in the PT/PTA relationship; teaching experience; and currency in contemporary physical therapy practice. An unencumbered Florida license in physical therapy is required to begin employment. The successful results of a background check and drug screen are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer experience in student evaluation and outcomes assessment; knowledge of contemporary curricular content for the education of the physical therapist assistant; and experience on behalf of physical therapy education, the community, and/or the profession.
SALARY RANGE: $34,828.00 - $40,828.00 (Entry level salary is computed and based on authority of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)
