Detailed Job Description

This position supports Engineering Technology faculty and students by preparing laboratory apparatus, equipment, materials and supplies for use in student laboratories and for lecture demonstrations.  
Duties include:
Responsible for supporting faculty in mechanics materials laboratory, soil mechanics/geotechnical laboratory, structures testing, demonstrations in fluid mechanics classes.
Assist in the Senior Project I and II and Introduction to Civil Engineering Technology courses.
Provide assistance in MET laboratory activities as assigned by the Department Chair.
Maintaining the equipment and instruments used by the students in the lab classes; preparing materials; teaching lab training sessions; assisting with demonstrations; assembling apparatus for demonstrations; purchasing materials, supplies, and assisting program coordinator/Department Chair in laboratory equipment procurement;
Provide preventive maintenance schedule and maintain equipment in the CET program.
Coordinate with faculty and assist the MET lab coordinator in maintaining an inventory for tools and equipment in the laboratory.  

Required Qualifications

A minimum of Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering or other related engineering/engineering technology field.
Knowledge in special structural engineering topics (e.i. refurbishment of structures, membrane structures and others).
Competency with experimental methods in structural engineering
Familiar with MTS Systems Corporation hydraulic testing equipment
Experience in undergraduate research
Competent with fatigue testing of wood composites  

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology
