The Assistant Director will have a range of responsibilities related to advancing the research, teaching and service activities of the Page Center for Entrepreneurship and the Institute for Entrepreneurship. These activities will specifically focus on start-up entrepreneurship activities including, but not limited to, developing and executing programs such as Start-Up Weekend, assisting in the development of a mentoring program, pursuing external funding through grant writing, and developing / executing seminars, internships, and course projects. In addition, the position may assist with other activities for the Institute for Entrepreneurship.
School of Business/Page Center for Entrepreneurship: Assistant Director to have a range of responsibilities related to advancing the teaching, research, and service activities of the Page Center for Entrepreneurship and the Miami Institute for Entrepreneurship, specifically to support all start-up entrepreneurship activities of the Institute by assisting in development and execution of teaching and outreach entrepreneurial activities, developing a mentoring program, increasing engagement with Miami alumni founders, funders and advisors of start-up and growth companies; support teaching activities and developing programmatic activities for the start-up entrepreneurship activities of the Institute by coordinating all activities associated with Start-Up Weekend, researching, developing, and supporting the creation of a minor in Start-up entrepreneurship, manage Annual Lecture Series and seminars and develop cross-campus partnerships to promote participation in curricular and co-curricular activities; pursue funding for the activities of the Institute by writing grants to pursue external funding, meeting with potential funding sources, collaborating with other potential funders; supervise student-related projects and activities including multiple student workers involved with activities of the Institute; direct activities related to all financial matters (invoicing, collecting, and managing) of the Page Center and for all financial matters of developing and executing grants; conduct performance appraisals for all student workers; other duties as assigned.
Required: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field; experience and understanding of entrepreneurship (as demonstrated by coursework or professional experience); excellent written and oral presentation skills; willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends; ability to adapt within entrepreneurial start-up environment; and willingness to travel.
Desired: M.B.A. or advanced degree in related field; experience with organizations in the entrepreneurial ecosystem; and experience selling and developing programs or events.
