This position is in the established MSU Denver Equity Assistance Center, a renewable five year grant, with one year remaining in the current grant cycle from the United States Department of Education. Equity Specialist Coordinators will coordinate with school districts, state departments of education (in a six state region), and others receiving federal funds to give technical assistance and training in the areas of civil rights, race (e.g., preventing race discrimination/harassment/isolation, bullying), gender (e.g. preventing sex discrimination/harassment, bullying), national origin (e.g., preventing discrimination/harassment, bullying and inclusive educational excellence for limited English proficient students) and educational equity (e.g., inclusive excellence of minorities and females in science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Travel though out the six state service region is required. All staff must pass background check, required by MSU Denver and many schools with whom staff might work. This is a 12-month position. Funding is through 30 September 2016.

Duties/Responsibilities

Responsible for developing, implementing and coordinating training and technical assistance programs for requesting eligible clients. Coordinator will be responsible for, but not limited to, working in the areas or math, science, technology and engineering. Coordination and consulting with clients; developing contacts with Region VIII (Colorado, Montana, North & South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming), including; coordinating, developing and maintaining professional networks are expected. Coordinators will participate in website development, developing workshop trainings, and developing resources for clients (e.g., video & teleconferencing, & distance learning, online courses, virtual STEM education clearing house etc.). Record keeping and assisting in evaluation of work of the Center is expected. Record keeping will be for travel, training, and technical assistance. Must be able to work independently, develop and maintain skills to utilize technology in service delivery. Assist in developing, holding and Coordinating EAC conferences. The development of educational resource materials (print and digital) for the Center as well as clients and website. Conducting data analysis for program improvement or to determine programmatic services or needs OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED: The work of an Equity Assistance Center requires, and often demands, flexibility on the part of staff including working with other staff members to assist them as needed.

Required Qualifications

*Master’s degree in Education, Sociology, Technology, Science, Mathematics, Engineering or in a related field.
*A minimum of three years full-time professional work, preferably in an education setting.
*Experience working with diverse student populations including non-traditional student students, students of color and students who may be second language learners. *experience providing training (or technical assistance) in the area of civil rights to include: race, gender, national origin inclusive educational excellence and equity.
*Willingness to learn and work in subject areas outside of degree field but related to Center work.
*Experience working with campus or community constituents to develop and implement a program, event or task.
*Experience developing workshops or trainings or resources.
*Experience with record keeping in regards to travel, training, technical assistance, and/or comparable assignment.

Preferred Qualifications

*Doctorate degree in Education, Sociology, Technology, Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or in a related field.
*Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative evaluation methodology.
*Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
*Willingness to learn and work in subject areas outside of degree field but related to Center work.
*Ability to foster collaborative relationships to develop or implement a program, event or task.
*Experience conducting data analysis for program improvement or to determine programmatic services or needs.
*Experience with record keeping in regards to travel, training, technical assistance, and/or comparable assignment.
