The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical services and/or assists physicians within their specific scope of expertise. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for independent decision making in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position may also be involved with assisting or instructing students. This position may supervise other positions.

Additional Department Summary:

The NP provides clinical services and /or assists physicians within their specific scope of expertise. The NP is responsible for independent decision making in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This position may also be involved with assisting or instructing students. This position may supervise other positions. This position will work interchangeably in both behavioral /mental health and primary care; it is expected that the academic year may involve more mental health service and/or triage assessment for determination of need for psychiatry referrals. The summer months are more likely to be concentrated on primary/urgent care and fewer appointments in the mental health care area.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Certification Program. Current/valid RN license in the state of Alabama. Two years of broad or specialized professional experience as a nurse. Excellent clinical, organizational, and administrative skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, students, faculty, and other health care professionals.Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Certification Program(s). Certification as NP in the areas of behavioral/mental health and Primary/Family care. Current/valid RN license in the State of Alabama. Two years of broad or specialized experience as a nurse. Excellent clinical, organizational and administrative skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and other health care professionals.

Preferred Qualifications:
