Job Duties:

Responsibilities Include:

Provide individual career advising meetings, telephone and email consultations to students and recent alumni in the College of Arts & Sciences regarding career exploration, job market readiness (e.g. resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation), strategies for obtaining jobs/internships, graduate school preparation (e.g. planning, application advice, review of resume and personal statement).

Provide graduate and professional school advising to students in all schools and maintain contact with graduate and professional schools seeking to recruit Quinnipiac students.

Assist Arts & Sciences students to market effectively their degree, knowledge, skills and experience

Participate in and make presentations at Admissions events (Open Houses and Admitted Students Days) about the career value of an Arts & Sciences major

Maintain print and web resources that assist students with all aspects of the career development process.

Collaborate with other Assistant Deans on common career services projects, e.g. maintenance of QU Career Connections, our job, internship and employer database.

Organize annual graduate and professional school fairs.

Network with employers, make site visits and facilitate internship and job placements.

Oversee the CAR 295: Career Practicum (internship) course all semesters.

Design and conduct in-class workshops on job market tools (resumes, cover letters and/or interviews), career paths related to major, graduate school admissions and fellowships, and/or strategies for finding jobs/ internships per request of faculty members

Collect job, graduate school and internship placement data.

Contribute to the administration of the College of Arts & Sciences through participation in deans' meetings, chairs' meetings and other committees and projects as determined by the Dean.

Teach one course per semester in an Arts & Sciences discipline or in the QU Seminar series.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D or other top professional degree in an Arts & Sciences discipline. Such a candidate may be eligible for a courtesy faculty appointment in the appropriate department in the College of Arts & Sciences.

Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication, including public presentations.

Demonstrated excellence in advising and mentoring undergraduate students.

In-depth understanding of the career value of an Arts & Sciences degree.

Capacity to network effectively with employers in developing job and internship leads for Arts & Sciences students and to market effectively the knowledge, skills and experience possessed by Arts & Sciences students.

Strong critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

Desired Minimum Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in networking, development, fundraising, employer relations, sales, marketing, conference organization, or other work processes requiring strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
