Detailed Job Description

This position assists in the annual operating budget and quarterly forecast processes for the University, as well as provides support for financial systems/reporting. Monitor and analyze for accuracy, reasonability, and trends: operating revenues and expenditures, budget vs. actual variances, and capital expenditures. Develop relevant reports and reconciliations. Assist in the development of the 5-year financial model for presentation to and use by the President, Officers, and Trustees of the University. Assist with special projects and analysis, including areas of budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cost accounting.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Assist in annual operating and capital budget and forecast processes for the University.

Assist with Cognos report design and maintenance to expand the repository of financial and general accounting reports available to Financial Operations and end users across campus.

Maintain a high level of technical knowledge regarding financial systems and analytical tools to support planning and financial reporting.

Monitor and analyze for accuracy, reasonability, and trends: operating revenue and expenditures, budget vs. actual variances, and capital expenditures. Develop other relevant financial analyses, reports, and reconciliations.

Process all capital project requests. Review the Project Authorization Forms, set up project budgets, and track expenses to budget.  

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with at least 3-4 years of budgeting, analysis and reporting experience. CPA or MBA preferred. Strong spreadsheet experience. Strong analytical, oral and written presentation skills. Demonstrated skills with financial reporting applications (preferably Cognos) and budget/financial modeling software (preferably Adaptive Insights).
