Detailed Job Description

Serves as Admissions Counselor and provides administrative support in the University's efforts to identify and enroll qualified students and will be an on-campus and field representative of the University of Alabama. The primary duties are to support the recruitment and admission of new students to the University. These duties may include, travel, interviewing, making presentations, promoting the University of Alabama and screening applications.

Additional Department Summary:

Incumbent for the Admissions front desk is a critical point of interaction for recruiting prospective students. It is essential for the front desk Admissions Counselor to be efficient and organized in high-pressured environments. These counselors often act as a liaison between visiting students and the various departments on campus. The Admissions Counselors for the front desk represent the entire University for visiting prospective students and their families. They must assure consistent superior customer service, providing a memorable experience for everyone.

Required Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a bachelor's degree, preferably in business, public relations, marketing, communications, education, counseling or related field. A minimum of six months of experience to include student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, communications, education, counseling, or related experience or for at least one year in college you were an active member of a student organization or in a student leadership role. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Basic knowledge in the usage of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to travel alone out of town, sometimes overnight, an interest in working with prospective college students and their families; the ability to work with different cultures and groups of people. The functions of this position will require some evening and weekend work. The position requires the capability to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry large quantities of sometimes heavy recruitment materials. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle report as determined by the insurance carrier. 55 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 25833.60 Midpoint - $ 34444.80
