Performs a variety of complex administrative tasks involving some discretion and requiring moderate amounts of independent judgment related to the oversight of the daily operations of a University administrative unit.
Serve as Administrative Assistant for academic department. Acts as informational resource to staff; investigates and resolves problems or difficulties related to area of assignment and expertise; assists staff, faculty, and students as needed; answers inquiries and provides answers/information internally and externally; oversees schedule and supervision of one office staff member; assists in the enforcement of policies and procedures; gathers and analyzes statistical information regarding department's programs and activities and produces reports; hires and gives direct supervision to student office employee and approves bi-weekly payroll for all student employees in the department; acts as main departmental contact for recruiting and admissions and schedules appointments as necessary; provides admission reports to Chair as needed; orders textbooks for all faculty members each term by the given deadline; oversees subscribers of the dept. listserv and approves all outgoing messages; acts as Building Point of Contact for CPA and HIS; enters each semester course offerings and makes changes/corrections as needed through Banner (Administrative Offices); processes appropriate form to hire/pay temporary full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, guests artists, current faculty teaching winter/summer term(s); orders all keys for dept. and dispenses all production key rings and monitors the return of these keys; various other administrative duties as needed.
Requires nine months of coursework or training beyond high school in Business Administration and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.
Knowledge of computers and various standard office procedures and equipment
Knowledge of and experience with various Miami University institutional and unit policies, procedures, and processes; working knowledge of Excel, Word, gmail, google documents, Banner and Bannerweb, Kronos, MINE, HireTouch
