The Department of Consumer Sciences at the University of Alabama is seeking dynamic applicants for an Assistant Professor tenure track position. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses online and on campus.
The department offers a Master’s degree in General Human Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Interactive Technology focused on computer-mediated communications and leadership in digital environments.
•Teaching, research, and service activities appropriate for the program, college and University.
•Produce a record of scholarly activity in Interactive Technology and Technology Leadership
•Develop and update campus and online courses as needed
•Obtain external funding to support a nationally competitive research program
•Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or Ed.D. from a nationally accredited institution in Technology Leadership, Computer Technology Integration, or related field.
• Experience in teaching online and on campus in undergraduate and graduate classes using a Learning Management System (LMS) as the platform
• Strong knowledge of the use of interactive media development tools
• Research experience including publications in peer reviewed journal articles.
• Experience presenting at international, national, and/or regional conferences related to technology and its use.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, as evidenced by collaborative publication.

Candidates invited to interview will be expected to make a presentation on the role of online instruction in a comprehensive research university; and to present a general framework for ideas for recruitment and retention of online undergraduate and graduate programs and relate it to their philosophy of teaching online classes.
