Detailed Job Description

The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR), in collaboration with the Tufts University Alumni Association (TUAA), strives to build life-long relationships with alumni and students of Tufts University. This is accomplished through extensive programming initiatives on the Tufts campuses throughout the United States and abroad.

The Alumni Relations Officer will have responsibility for the following:

Volunteer Management - Full program responsibility for soliciting and posting volunteer website profiles, responding to volunteer opportunity submissions, creation and coordination of reunion class recruitment project and the office holiday greetings email project.

Volunteer Management - Provide administrative support for the creation and delivery of the Volunteer Leadership Summit, administrative support of the Alumni Chapter Leadership Awards program, various Tufts Alumni Council projects and database management projects.

Class Agent Program - Full program responsibility for recruiting alumni from select classes to conduct peer-to-peer outreach to engage fellow classmates; recruit alumni to participate in the development & maintenance of their class webpage. Plan meetings/events for these classes in advance of their reunion year. Create and distribute printed/electronic communication pieces in preparation for their upcoming reunion year. Work closely and in collaboration with Tufts Annual Fund colleagues.

Other Duties - Coordinate logistics and serve as alumni host liaison for a series of alumni/student events known as Senior Dinners; serve as the volunteer coordinator for a Tufts 5k fun run known as the Jumbo Stampede and serve as the logistics coordinator for several Alumni Weekend events.
Job Requirements

Basic Requirements:

Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in alumni relations, development and/or volunteer management
Bachelor’s degree required
Microsoft Office, experience with Advance database system a plus

Some domestic/international travel will be required. Strong project/time management, organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Should have demonstrable ability to interact with a broad range of people and constituencies and be able to work as part of a team, as well as independently. . Excellent diplomacy and communication (oral and written) skills are mandatory as is the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with volunteers, particularly committees, is preferred.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:

Must be able and willing to work irregular schedule. Some weeknights (approx. 2-3 per month) and all or part of some weekends (approx. 3-4 per year) will be required. Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
