The candidate must have completed a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies or a related field, and demonstrate strong background in classical Islamic Studies as well as a high level of Arabic language competency. Knowledge of a second relevant language such as Persian, Turkish, or Urdu would be an asset. Significant teaching experience is preferred. Leadership qualities in program development are desirable, as well as strong organizational and management skills.
• Teaching courses related to Islamic Studies
• Teaching load and research expectations will be negotiated depending on the situation of the candidate and needs of the institution
• Developing a program in the academic study of Islam and hiring and supervising related full time and adjunct faculty.
• Working with the President, VP for academic affairs and Registrar in designing and delivering a coherent, innovative, and rigorous program in Islamic Studies at the Bachelors and Masters degree levels.
Contract Duration: Initial hire will be for a renewable three-year contract
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
