Full-time instructor on a one-year contract that is potentially renewable, based on budgetary factors and positive annual performance reviews, for a total of three years. The area of specialization is open, but the position requires a strong background in theory and method and an area of specialization that will enhance the expertise of current faculty in the department. All applicants should demonstrate a record of teaching excellence. The position begins August 16, 2015. At the time of hire, a Ph.D. or equivalent in the academic study of religion or related area is preferred; ABD nearing completion will be considered.
The successful applicant will be teaching sections of the Introduction to Religious Studies as an Honors course (with a limit of 25 students per section; this course addresses methodological and theoretical issues in the academic study of religion) and another will be a more specialized lower or upper-level course, depending on the expertise and interests of the instructor.
