Detailed Job Description

The Career Consultant will provide comprehensive career development and professional employment services to students and alumni interested in various careers. This position is instrumental in carrying out the operational activities of the Career Center and serves as a liaison for students, alumni, faculty, employers, prospective students and parents. This position communicates and/or coordinates with Career Center staff all career related activities and news and supports all aspects of the operations of the Career Center.

Additional Department Summary:

This position functions as a Career Consultant for assigned student and/or alumni clients. The position has responsibility for all career-related advising, assessment, resume approval, individual student job search assistance, development and delivery of workshops/classes on a variety of career topics. The person in this position also serves on a variety of related committees, has responsibility for outreach to faculty/staff in assigned colleges, departments and/or academic programs, and student organizations. In addition, this position has responsibility for employer development/ relations to address the employment needs for students in assigned areas. Special care should be given to maximizing internship and/or full-time employment results. S/he serves as the advisor to Delta Epsilon Iota, Academic Honor Society sponsored by the Career Center. Each Career Consultant will assist with planning, development and organization of special events, printed materials, and online materials for the Career Center. Each Career Consultant is expected to increase knowledge and proficiency with campus recruiting software, identify and review both print and online career resources, and contribute to the continued development of the Center's website. All of these efforts should be coordinated with other Career Center staff and other university units when appropriate.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree or higher with at least one (1) year experience in career services, student services, business, human resources management, counseling or related field. Ability to work outside of traditional work hours.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to drive with access to personal transportation.Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record as determined by the insurance carrier.

Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking, exceptional organizational skills, knowledge of computers and various software programs, especially those related to data management, word processing, event management, and group presentations. Knowledge of career theory and development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two or more years in a university setting, preferably working in Career Services is desirable. 57 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 31969.56 Midpoint - $ 46342.44
