Under the direction of the department chair, provides instruction in clinical, lab, and didactic dental hygiene courses and plans and prepares approved courses of study with measurable objectives for each course. Participates in other activities in support of teaching/learning and program development (e.g., curriculum development, accreditation) as required. Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. Masters degree in Dental Hygiene OR AAS or BS in Dental Hygiene with a Masters degree in related field. 5 years clinical practice required.
Ability to obtain a Utah Dental Hygiene license with anesthesia certificate by date of hire.
Teaching experience in higher education preferred.
Knowledge of chemical, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental health standards.
Employee development and performance management skills.
Skills in developing and presenting educational programs and/or workshops.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in wiring.
Ability to examine and design effective and efficient operations and procedures.
Ability to formulate policy and develop and implement new strategies and procedures consistent with the goals and objectives of chemical safety.
Ability to develop and maintain record-keeping systems and procedures.
