Improving the value and use of information is a priority for Assessment & Institutional Research. The data analyst contributes by preparing data for analysis, using descriptive statistics, and summarizing the findings in clearly written summaries.
Provide support within the Office of Assessment & Institutional Research on projects involving data collection, analysis, and reporting
Extract institutional data from the university’s Colleague database.
Prepare data for analysis by collecting, cleaning, and merging data.
Analyze data using descriptive statistics, show relationships between two variables, and display results in tables
Prepare short written summaries of key findings
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field (e.g., communications, social science, statistics)
Demonstrated knowledge of SPSS including the ability to use SPSS to select specific records for analysis, and to describe the data.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with data collection, input, management, and descriptive statistics
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office (viz., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Experience with meeting appropriate deadlines, working independently, and maintaining confidentiality
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
Knowledge of questionnaire development and design
Experience with using descriptive and inferential statistics
Experience with additional analytical software, such as, M-Plus, SAS, STATA, Tableau, and VEERA
Experience working collaboratively with clients and/or colleagues
