Detailed Job Description

The Accountant III supervises and participates in the maintenance of advanced accounting and financial records. Prepares integrated financial and statistical reports, statements, projections, and recommendations. Generally supervises the activities of a staff within a business unit or department.

Additional Department Summary:

The position works collaboratively with the Business Office, Purchasing, and other offices to organize and coordinate the services that fall under the financial umbrella of the Division of Community Affairs. The position performs all aspects of accounting and budgeting for the Division of Community Affairs to include payables (MDVs, DTAs, P-Card purchases and reconciliations), receivables (deposits and invoicing), budget management (journal entries, budget preparations, budget changes), financial reporting, support for externally funded grants, seed funding award distribution and serves as financial advisor to committee members. The position manages the HR function for the Division (excluding human relations issues but including managing recruitment activity), prepares Personnel Action Forms (and various HR paperwork), Scholarship Appointments (liaison with scholarship office), and coordinates undergraduate hiring and graduate assistant appointments. The position also assists with the United Way Campaign, serves as liaison with IT and serves as EEO Officer for the Division.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and four (4) years professional accounting experience; OR a Masters degree in Accounting or Business and 3 years professional accounting experience; OR CPA and 3 years professional accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Proven education and experience with various database systems, mining, reporting, developing dashboards. Preference given to candidates with experience in a higher education setting. 59 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 42993.60 Midpoint - $ 62337.60
