Detailed Job Description

The Case Advocate will conduct and/or assist with all phases of advocacy for individuals and classes of persons with disabilities for whom legal rights have been denied. This work includes intake work, case investigations, representation, negotiation, administrative remedies, and providing information and referral services throughout the State of Alabama. This person will make presentations to consumers and the public concerning the rights of persons with disabilities and current legal issues affecting individuals with disabilities. The Case Advocate works collaboratively with Clinical Students and Law Clerks, Senior Advocates and Attorneys.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, special education, law degree, or closely related field. One (1) year experience as a lawyer, educator, paralegal, advocate, or comparable experience in an advocacy related field. Exceptional verbal, writing, planning and organizational skills. Proficiency in the operation of a personal computer to include word processing programs. Requires frequent in-state travel. Use of personal car for business travel may be necessary at times. Valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle record as determined by the insurance carrier.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred, but not required.56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 28537.56 Midpoint - $ 39956.76
