Reporting to the General Counsel, the Paralegal performs a variety of complex and confidential paralegal and legal assistant support duties. The primary purpose of this role will be to enhance General Counsel Office effectiveness by taking ownership of the key responsibilities listed below and others assigned by the General Counsel. Critical to this role’s success will be superior verbal and written communication skills, excellent judgment, attention to detail, and ability to juggle tasks from the administrative to the more strategic.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree and Paralegal Certificate or equivalent education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Paralegal Certificate from an American Bar Association approved program
Minimum of 5 years in-house and/or law firm paralegal experience
Knowledge of legal industry, principles, and practices; legal research techniques; and legal terminology.
Knowledge of and experience in paralegal and legal assistant duties.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, composition and proofreading skills.
Superior organization skills, including the ability to manage time and tasks effectively.
Strong commitment to the University’s mission and core values; ability and willingness to represent the University and the Office of the General Counsel in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, vendors and the community we serve; ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with trustees, administrators, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the general public.

A high level of self-initiative, with the ability and willingness to eagerly assume assigned responsibilities.
