Detailed Job Description

The Associate Director is a member of the Financial Assistance senior management team that plans and directs the daily operations of the Office of Financial Assistance. Responsible for managing and directing the continuing student renewal financial aid process and the alternative loan process. Also oversees the Federal Direct Loan program. The core function of the position requires the review of financial aid applications using both Federal and Institutional Methodology and effective management of a caseload of approximately 10-15% of aid applicants (approximately 250-400 students). The Associate Director also supervises two Assistant Directors.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Review applications for admission as directed to meet departmental and divisional weekly goals. Provide feedback on candidates for admission and the application review process.

Mentor and manage the daily and weekly priorities of two Assistant Directors and conduct annual performance evaluations.

Manage the processing of private education loans for the university and help select education products for preferred lender list. Act as backup for management of the Federal Direct Loan Program and insure compliance with regulations and reconciliation.

Manage the continuing student financial aid renewal process, including the monitoring of student Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Liaison to the Athletics Department for National Letter of Intent process, general athletic financial aid awards, and renewal awards under guidance of the Executive Director and in compliance with Bentley policies and NCAA regulations. Provide informational resources to coaches through the Athletics financial aid liaison.

Analyze the annual results of the effectiveness of Bentley's Net Price Calculator and make recommendations for updates/changes so that the calculator closely replicates merit scholarship and need-based financial aid decisions. Implement changes within the College Board's Net Price Calculator product.

Represent the financial aid office at various admission functions such Open Houses. Travel to recruiting events on occasion.  

Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3-5 years experience related to the administration of financial aid.  

License(s) Required for the Position

Valid driver's license required for infrequent job-related travel.
