Under the supervision of the Director of Student Persistence and as part of the office of Student Persistence, the College Completion Coordinator will be responsible for providing outstanding customer service to all students at MSU Denver with enhanced focus on specific student populations as dictated by MSU Denver’s predictive model. The Coordinator will work with all areas of the University (Faculty, Staff, and Support Services) to ensure the best possible customer experience for students. The Coordinator will act as a student advocate when appropriate and provide a place for all students to go to seek out information and assistance. The Coordinator is critical in the functioning of the office of student persistence which provides communication, programming, and interventions to support student success.
The Coordinator will track and manage exiting students and provide follow-up and needed intervention services. The Coordinator will also create ongoing communications and programming to help retain students. The Coordinator will work with Admissions to continue communication with students that do exit to encourage timely re-entry into MSU Denver. Strategic communication will also occur to continuing students offering assistance and information necessary to successfully navigate our higher education system. This position is responsible for shaping the customer service experience for new and continuing students enrolled and helping them navigate through MSU Denver’s programs and processes.
The Coordinator will assist with developing new persistence programming and services to help MSU Denver students retain and graduate. The Coordinator will work with existing programs to provide seamless co-management of students’ persistence needs. The Coordinator will work in collaboration with all University partners to ensure the best possible experience for all students. The Coordinator will work with the Director of Student Persistence to provide professional mentoring and advocacy support to assist students in overcoming barriers or obstacles to persistence and retention. The Coordinator will assist with the Fostering Success Program. The Coordinator will refer students to other learning support services and instructors when appropriate. The Coordinator will work with faculty as needed to assure appropriate and effective learning support and resources are available for students that have requested assistance.
The Coordinator will assist in the collection of data and the preparation of reports to assess support for students, the effectiveness of the office of student persistence, and the continued objectives of the institution (i.e., under-represented student retention, academic progress, or graduation).
The successful candidate will ensure success and productivity by assessing every student that contacts the office of student persistence needs and making recommendations that are individualized and appropriate for the student’s goals. The Coordinator will convey with complete accuracy the policies and regulations of MSU Denver of each specific degree or certificate program. Also, the Coordinator will assume full responsibility for addressing every student’s questions (which requires significant interaction with MSU Denver department staff, ability to troubleshoot and resolve specific issues, and tracking resolution of all issues)
•Provides outstanding customer service to students and assists students with higher education needs.
•Makes recommendations for each student situation and acts as an advocate for students when appropriate.
•Works collaboratively with other campus constituents to provide outstanding student focused services.
•Work with existing programs to provide seamless co-management of student’s persistence needs. Collaborate with all University partners to ensure the best possible experience for every student.
•Refer students to other learning support services and instructors when appropriate.
•Work with faculty as needed to assure appropriate and effective learning support and resources are available for students that have requested assistance.
(55%)Coordinate the withdrawal process for exiting students
•Acts as exit specialist for students deciding to leave MSU Denver.
•Provides assistance and interventions that will potentially assist students to stay enrolled at MSU Denver.
•Works with other campus constituents to create resources and interventions that help students persist.
•Create and maintain ongoing database to encourage and assist students no longer enrolled to re-enroll and graduate from MSU Denver
•Assists in the collection of relevant student retention data and prepare summary reports
•Utilize these data to assess support for students, the effectiveness of the office of student persistence, and the continued objectives of the institution (i.e., under-represented student retention, academic progress, or graduation).

•Assist the Coordinator of Transfer Initiatives in creating and sustain a comprehensive transfer student persistence program
•Provide outreach to transfer students to encourage persistence and completion

Master’s degree in higher education, counseling or related field.
A minimum of two years of full-time experience working in a higher education setting specifically working with the retention of students.
Experience using student information database systems.
Experience using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook).
Demonstrated customer service experience.
•Knowledge of strategic student retention best practices and predictive modeling.
•At least three years of full-time experience working in a higher education setting specifically related to the retention of students.
•Excellent oral and written communications skills with students, faculty and staff.
•Knowledge and practical application of student development theory and concepts for student success.
•Enthusiasm for the college experience and an understanding of the transformative role it plays in the lives of students.
•Proven ability to perform in a student focused and fast-paced environment.
•Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team with a commitment to service and excellence.
•Excellent project management skills, including the ability to set and adhere to strict timelines and propose and implement effective solutions to roadblocks and problems.
•Experience working with a customer relationship management system (CRM).
•The successful candidate must work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
