The Data Warehouse Manager leads and manages the Data Warehouse/Reporting team. The manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, the Enterprise Data Hub, and other initiatives to provide consistent and timely data to users across the Bentley campus. The manager is also responsible for developing relationships with departmental report writers, operations directors, and cabinet members to ensure that campus constituents are aware of the reporting tools and data structures that are available to support their needs.

The Data Warehouse Manager will develop a clear, consistent approach to data warehouse reporting, ETL development, metadata, and interface development at Bentley. He or she has strong development knowledge of data warehouse structures and designs, and will be able to assist in hands on development when necessary.

The Data Warehouse Manager provides technical leadership, and designs and develops enterprise reporting infrastructures.

The Data Warehouse Manager mentors and participates in the professional development of junior staff, and works with senior staff to develop strong, documented support and development practices.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Designs and helps develop the Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Hub, and other infrastructure vital to establishing a robust reporting environment at Bentley.

Engages in systematic outreach with user community to develop data definitions and data use policies, to identify information needs, and to assess existing reporting tools and structures. Leads efforts to develop enterprise data governance processes and procedures.

Manages the data warehouse team to ensure that support requests are met in a timely manner, and that the team plays a full role in new initiatives and projects.

Ensures the timely conversion of existing PL-SQL based ETL to Informatica ETL environment.

Designs and develops and infrastructure for cabinet level "dashboard" and "KPI" and other program reporting to support data driven decision making. Assists in developing appropriate cost models.

Leads the rollout of standardized tools (Informatica) for ETL and interface build. Supports the development team's understanding and use of Informatica.

Supports the enterprise Cognos Framework and reporting environment. Reviews and identifies additional report delivery mechanisms or tools, and ensures that these are implemented in a consistent and secure manner.

Identifies opportunities to support the development of departmental goals, strategies, priorities, policies and procedures related to data integration, development, access, and reporting.  

Position Qualifications

Required:

BA/BS in Computer Science or related discipline.

At least seven years of experience designing and developing Data Warehouse, ETL, and reporting solutions.

Proven experience managing or leading technical teams to develop reporting solutions.

Experience architecting business intelligence platforms and data management roadmaps.

Strong programming skills (preferably SQL, PL/SQL, Java) and technical aptitude.

Extensive relational database experiences (preferably Oracle), strong problem solving and analytic skills and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills - this position must interact effectively with technical and non-technical users.

A good listener with patience and respect for non-technical users is required.

Preferred:

Higher degrees or certifications in related discipline preferred.

Previous knowledge of Oracle Warehouse Builder and Cognos
Framework Manager, and Cognos enterprise administration.

Previous data warehouse and reporting experience in a Higher Education environment.
