Detailed Job Description

The Field Coordinator reports to the Chair of the Department of Human Services and ensures effective functioning of all elements of the departmental field program. In addition to coordination of the field program, the position will teach some of the field classes. Metropolitan State University of Denver serves a diverse, urban population and is working towards recognition as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).  
The position will advise and orient students regarding field placement; develop relationships with local agencies that host our students as interns and train field supervisors; maintain currency of all written materials relating to the field experience (including website content); serve as a liaison between the department and key University offices such as the Applied Learning Center, Career Services, Human Resources, Study Abroad, Campus Legal Counsel, and the Center for Urban Connections; problem solve and facilitate conflict resolution as needed; develop policy as appropriate to the field program; coordinate regular meetings of field faculty; coordinate assessment activities related to the field program; stay current on national trends in learning through field work; teach two to five sections of HSP 2070 (Pre-field Seminar) per year and one to three sections of either HSP 2080/2090 (Practicum) or HSP 4790 (Professional Internship) per year, and support departmental advising.  

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education, Gerontology, Rehabilitation, Women's Studies, Communication, Nonprofit Studies, Behavioral Science, or related field; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to work with a diverse, urban student population; and evidence of effective organizational skills.  

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in the human services and/or nonprofit field. Experience teaching at the college level. Strong computer skills and experience working with the SCT/Banner system.
