Job ID: 664. The Assistant Director is a full-time master's-level professional who serves as a central staff member for the Office of Residence Life. In addition to providing guidance, direction, and support for the overall mission, vision, and goals of the residential program at Miami University, this person is responsible for the supervision of 6 – 9 live-in staff members. Like all members of the Office of Residence Life, the Assistant Director is charged with shaping the environment and experiences of students by providing services and programs related to the Office of Residence Life’s Residential Curriculum, which focuses on learning outcomes connected to academic success, effective community engagement, intrapersonal development and cultural competency of our residents.
This position required a master’s degree, preferably in College Student Personnel, Higher Education/Student Affairs or a related field plus at least 3 years of full-time post-master’s experience. The individual in this position must have post-masters experiences in residence life, supervision, developing and maintaining effective cross campus partnerships, as well as a proven ability to relate to diverse populations. The Assistant Director must be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, display strong commitment to student learning, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with stakeholders inside and outside of the University. Individuals in this position must have the ability and willingness to respond to crisis and emergency situations. A functional knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet use is required.
Experience in student transitional programming and counseling is preferred.
