JOBID 595 Performs a variety of intermediate to complex administrative tasks related to personnel and payroll operations.


Serve as personnel technician for unclassified staff:  Enter and maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the personnel and payroll database, including proofing and auditing of monthly payroll and resolving any discrepancies; process new appointments submitted through the hiring system, Hire Touch; assist new employees with new-hire requirements, as needed, including submission of all required forms and documents; monitor, review and troubleshoot requests submitted for unclassified staff through an Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF); monitor actions and process requests submitted in Hire Touch for current unclassified staff; be responsible for special payments, including but not limited to, grant payments; prepare pay documents for approver’s review; monitor audit reports and make corrections as needed; communicate with relevant university personnel and employees; provide assistance with projects and general office duties which may include answering phones, making referrals, assisting employees in person, typing materials, copying, records management tasks, etc.;  maintain the confidentiality of all information; perform other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Requires twelve months of coursework or training beyond high school in business administration and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and expertise.  Excellent command of keyboard; knowledge of computers and office applications including Microsoft office components; knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment; ability to maintain confidentiality; knowledge of payroll procedures; may require ability to coordinate and monitor student employees.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in personnel and/or payroll setting in higher education, including with a payroll database such as Ellucian Banner; established record of excellent employment performance including attendance; previous experience in customer services.
