Detailed Job Description

The Budget Analyst and G/L Systems position is responsible for providing assistance to the Budget Director by maintaining the general ledger accounts and security access to the Datatel general ledger module, prepare a variety of high level budget reports and projections, monitoring the status of all divisional budgets, conducting financial analyses and management studies, recommending improved practices and procedures, identifying and resolving complex budget operational and automated system problems, and assisting in the development, maintenance and evaluation of college-wide budgets

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution required. Master's degree or CPA candidate preferred.

Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis or posting, auditing and reconciling financial data required.

Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and practical knowledge of financial systems and internal financial controls and procedures required.

Ability to work accurately with financial records with a minimum of supervision. Customer focus and strong analytical skills required.

Knowledge of governmental and not-for-profit accounting preferred.

Ability to work well in a fast paced environment with attention to detail and deadlines.

Technical competence with integrated database systems. Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software and Internet search techniques.

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication and customer service skills required.

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of constituents, including all levels of management, faculty, public officials and the general public.

Ability to handle sensitive information with complete confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

CPA candidate preferred. Prior audit experience preferred.
