Detailed Job Description

The NSC Program Data Management Specialist is responsible for providing research, analysis and data management support to the project director and other staff of the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) TAA Community College and Career Training Grant. The data management specialist provides in-depth analytical and statistical expertise that supports the data collection and outcome reporting of ten NSC community college partners in nine states who are developing and implementing high-demand STEM pathway programs; this includes the preparation and dissemination of comprehensive studies, and program-specific, federal and ad hoc reports.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, information systems or related field required.

Minimum of five years of experience in conducting research studies and analyzing data using statistical methods required.

Experience working with large data sets in relational database environments required.

Advanced proficiency in the use of statistical report writing, querying and statistical analysis tools and with all Microsoft Office applications.

Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate complex analysis to a non-technical audience.

Ability to gather, compile and analyze research data in a variety of formats.

Ability to respond to information requests quickly and on short notice.

Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment with attention to details and deadlines.

Ability to maintain state of the art technical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree with a minimum of 12 credit hours in statistics and research methodology preferred.

Higher education experience preferred.

Knowledge of and experience working with USDOL Common Measures performance reporting preferred.

This is a grant funded, contractual with benefits position. The grant funding this position shall expire on September 30, 2014. Continuation beyond the contract period is contingent upon need and funding.
