Job ID: 437. Director of Ice Hockey will be responsible for the direction, administration, management, supervision and marketing of all ice hockey programming needs of the Goggin Ice Center. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, administering and directing all aspects of Miami Youth Hockey Association which includes learn to play, Mite/Squirt house leagues, two travel Squirt teams, two travel Peewee teams, one recreational Peewee team, two travel Bantam teams, one recreational Bantam team, and one travel U18 team. Director of Ice Hockey will be tournament director for 6-10 ice hockey tournaments and will be Goggin’s event coordinator for outside groups who use Goggin for hockey activities. Director of Ice Hockey will be the advisor/GM for Miami’s ACHA DI Women’s and DII Men’s hockey teams. They will be part of the administration and management of Miami’s Summer Hockey School, as well as have financial responsibility for the directing and managing of the hockey program budget. This position will be responsible for strategic planning to increase revenue for Goggin Ice Center through creation of new programming and the bidding out tournaments. Position reports to the Sr. Director of Goggin Ice Center and works directly with the other members of Goggin’s management team, and other Miami University departments.
Required to perform duties with limited supervision and will be required to make significant independent decisions.
Direct, manage, implement, and develops ongoing policies and procedures for all hockey related programming with emphasis on risk management and safety of all patrons and staff.
Directs and oversees all hockey related equipment used for Miami Youth Hockey with an emphasis on safety and quality.
Direct and oversee Hockey Freestyle program.
Direct, recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise 15-20 Jr. Redhawks and freestyle hockey coaches.
Direct, recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise 20-30 Miami Youth Hockey Association Travel and Recreational team coaches and managers.
Directs and evaluate all ice hockey instruction for Goggin’s travel youth hockey program.
Direct, organize, and manage Learn to Play Hockey (Jr. RedHawks Program).
Directs and evaluate all ice hockey instruction for Goggin’s Learn to play Hockey.
Direct, organize and manage Adult Learn to Play Hockey (Bad Hockey).
Directs on ice hockey instruction for Goggin’s BAD Hockey.
Direct development of all off-ice training for Goggin’s travel hockey participants.
Serve as Associate Director of Miami’s Summer Ice Hockey Camp.
Direct all day to day Hockey School administrative responsibilities and coach 1-7 weeks.
Direct and act as Tournament Director for 6-10 Goggin Ice Center operated or supported hockey tournaments.
Direct the planning and organizing the marketing of all Goggin Ice Center hockey programs.
Direct all USA Hockey Coaches Clinics operating out of Goggin.
Organize and support USA Hockey official’s clinics operating out of Goggin.
Act as Manager on Duty for facility coverage and a variety of other duties associated with the ice hockey programs, other ice related activities.
Direct the special ordering of ice hockey equipment through Goggin Ice Center’s pro shop.
Establish working relationships with individuals, other University departments, agencies, and groups that further enhance the mission of Goggin Ice Center.
Establish working relationships with outside ice hockey groups who can further enhance the mission of Goggin Ice Center.
Teach 1-2 KNH hockey classes per academic year.
Attend regional and national conferences/meetings yearly.
Advisor/GM for Miami’s Women’s and Men’s American College Hockey Associations ice hockey teams.
Assist with annual Ice Show as assigned.
Completes other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience in ice related sports and activities, or 6 years of experience in ice related sports and activities or equivalent education and experience.
Experience in ice hockey instructing and officiating, with knowledge of other ice related sports, activities and equipment.
Employment for this position is contingent upon providing a set of fingerprint impressions and satisfactorily completing a criminal records check.
Successful management and recreational programming experience.
Experience in working within a university environment.
USA Hockey coaching certification.
