Job ID: 441. The Director will oversee, manage and coordinate all aspects of the advancement and growth of Miami University's Women's Initiative (MIAMI Women). In this capacity, the Director will develop and execute a fundraising plan, recruit and manage an active and engaged Advisory Board, solicit major, special and annual gifts, and create programming consistent with the mission and purpose of the Initiative. The primary purpose of the Women's Initiative will be to encourage financial support for the goals and initiatives determined and approved by the Advisory Board and the Office of Development. As such, the Director will manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects who have been identified as having both the inclination and capacity to support the Women's Initiative. Through the efforts of the Director and this Initiative, Miami will strengthen its commitment to increased financial support for and become a national leader in issues associated with and important to gender relations and equality.
Implement and direct a comprehensive development program for the Miami Women's Initiative in support of its annual fundraising goals and initiatives.
Manage and develop strategies for all prospective donors to the program.
Oversee management of the Women's Initiative Advisory Board, including scheduling of all meetings, coordination of all materials, agendas, minutes, and regular communique with members. Work with the Vice President, the Senior Associate Vice President, and the Senior Director of Development for University Programs and Projects to coordinate recruitment of all members.
In consultation with campus partners and the Advisory Board, develop and oversee programming that is in keeping with the mission and goals of the Initiative. Initially, this will involve at least one on-campus program in both the fall and spring semesters, but might also include programming and services made available to alumnae and students.
Identify, cultivate, and personally solicit alumni, parents, and other friends of Miami University for commitments of $50,000 and above. Manage a portfolio of approximately 60-80 individual prospective donors.
Prepare and present gift proposals to prospective donors with the input and assistance of faculty, senior administrators, and deans. Proposals and gifts may involve outright, multi-year, and long-term commitments of cash, securities, real estate, personal property, estates, trusts, annuities, insurance, and other assets.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development for Academic Programs, the Director will also perform other duties related to the mission of the Office of Development and will serve as the principal departmental liaison to the Miami Women's Initiative and will be responsible for all aspects of the program's philanthropic and alumni relations objectives.
Bachelor's degree; 3 years of experience in development/fundraising or comparable work experience; excellent written and oral communication; extensive travel required. (Internships, volunteer work, and other experience gained during the completion of degree programs may be counted towards these requirements.)
Familiarity with and experience in higher education. Experience working with and managing volunteers.
