The iDiscovery Assistant Director will direct and coordinate all aspects of the iDiscovery instructional program and will coordinate interactions among iDiscovery, Discovery and Dragonfly personnel. The Assistant Director will develop programs, courses and instructional materials. The Assistant Director will train and supervise the iDiscovery project coordinator, readers and facilitators; and ensure that iDiscovery Professional Development Communities (PDC) are established and meet established goals.

Duties

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Position

  • Oversee all aspects of the iDiscovery instructional program
  • Compose course syllabi for the iDiscovery courses
  • Compose Web-based assignment templates for Implementing and Facilitating Professional Development Communities (PDC)
  • Develop, and prepare introductory materials for dissemination to prospective iDiscovery facilitators, participants, and potential educational entity partners.
  • Coordinate the introduction of iDiscovery to prospective facilitators, participants, and potential educational entity partners.
  • Develop, design, and customize Facilitator Preparation Professional Development (PD) materials
  • Develop, conduct, and coordinate all aspects of the iDiscovery Facilitator Preparation PD program
  • Assist facilitators in the introduction of iDiscovery to prospective participants
  • Design procedures for and monitor the facilitation of the course start-up
  • Monitor the development of locally adjusted PDC assignments by PDC facilitators and provide assistance and redirection as needed
  • Provide HTML assistance to PDC facilitators
  • Coordinate activities among all iDiscovery, Project Dragonfly, and Discovery Center personnel.
  • Develop and customize training for the iDiscovery Coordinator
  • Plan and conduct regular iDiscovery staff meetings
  • Collaborate in the preparation of iDiscovery funding proposal and reports
  • Report regularly to Project Director

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the iDiscovery coordinator, readers, workshop facilitators, and graduate assistants (if assigned). Direct the organization and formative evaluation of iDiscovery on-line learning communities.

  • Functional: assign, direct, and monitor work
  • Provide oversight for the formative evaluation of iDiscovery on-line learning communities
  • Direct: approve time-off, recommend hiring/firing
  • Supervise iDiscovery readers (3)
  • Functional: Provide oversight for iDiscovery Coordinator in assigning, directing and monitoring tasks
  • Provide oversight for iDiscovery Coordinator in designing and implementing training materials and protocols for readers
  • Direct: approve time-off, recommend hiring/firing
  • Supervise iDiscovery facilitators
  • Functional: Monitor PDC progress and perform summative evaluations of PDC facilitators
  • Provide oversight for iDiscovery Coordinator in communicating with facilitators
  • Direct: approve time-off, recommend hiring/firing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in education, mathematics education, or science education
  • Prior participation in iDiscovery instructional program
  • K-12 experience in teaching mathematics or science
  • Experience with standards-based/data-driven teaching and learning practices
  • Experience with Web-based learning approaches and knowledge of HTML
  • Demonstrated experience in program and curriculum development
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Available for limited state-wide travel
  • Ability to work online and communicate professionally over the Internet

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about iDiscovery and other Web-based instructional tools
  • Demonstrated experience with facilitating Web-based learning communities
  • Knowledgeable about state and national mathematics and science standards
  • Experience in design and delivery of professional development
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Availability to work part-time, for training, until full-time begins July 1 is preferred.
