Responsible for Miami University's strategic recruitment plan, school relations, and alumni admissions volunteer program in the Mountain West region including Arizona, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming; position is home-based.   

Duties

Formulate recruitment strategies, plans, and goals for the mountain west region based on demographic analyses, market research, and other admission data; monitor admission activity in critical markets; prepare statistical reports and analyses; coordinate recruitment activities in the area, to include six to ten weeks of travel with evening and weekend work expected; organization, coordination, and management of on- and off-campus recruitment events and counselor programs; develop and maintain the leadership and membership of the Miami University Community Outreach & Recruiting Program (MUCORP) within the mountain west and provide training for members; develop working knowledge of Miami University programs, opportunities, and policies; communicate information about admission policies and procedures to prospective students, families, guidance counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni volunteers; develop and maintain relationships with high school and community college counselors and other school, agency and community officials in the mountain west; work with the Communications Team to develop and implement targeted, segmented, specific communications strategies; participate in electronic file review; routine travel to Oxford for training and office activities; participate in professional organizational and professional development activities within the region; other duties as assigned.  

Minimum Qualifications

Assistant Director qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of experience in progressively responsible positions in admission or a Master’s Degree in lieu of degree and experience; experience with recruitment activities and territory management (experience earned as part of an advanced degree program is acceptable); strong working knowledge of the recruitment region; excellent communication skills, including public speaking and writing ability; high level of organizational and self-starting skills; ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrated commitment to recruiting individuals from diverse backgrounds; knowledge of and experience with computer systems and various software applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to lift 30-40 lbs of recruiting materials; valid driver's license and automobile for travel; ability to perform overnight travel.  

Senior Assistant Director qualifications:   Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years of experience in progressively responsible positions in admission or a Master’s Degree and a minimum of one year of experience in admission; experience with recruitment activities and territory management; strong working knowledge of the recruitment region; excellent communication skills, including public speaking and writing ability; high level of organizational and self-starting skills; ability to work with minimal supervision; demonstrated commitment to recruiting individuals from diverse backgrounds; knowledge of and experience with computer systems and various software applications, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to lift 30-40 lbs of recruiting materials; valid driver's license and automobile for travel; ability to perform overnight travel.  

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who reside in the greater Denver area are preferred, but all qualified applicants based within the region will be considered. Master's degree; experience with customer relations databases, Banner, and Microsoft Access; experience working with school counselors, community-based organizations, and alumni volunteers.
