Job Responsibilities

Provides direct management and delivery of Access & Community Engagement programs, monitors goals and status of community benchmarks, and monitors implementation of community development activities; works with campus and college leadership to develop, recommend, and administer programs and services

Supports the Associate Vice President, Access & Community Engagement in the research and development of strategic initiatives related to access, community outreach, student support programs

Manages and leads project teams, and facilitates effective communication and collaboration within the College amongst faculty, staff, administration, and students

Serves as a liaison between the College and external governmental agencies, elected and appointed officials, neighborhood and community groups, and local non-profit organizations seeking collaborations to meet common objectives

Promotes Access & Community Engagement programs and community-building activities through active participation in community meetings, speaking events, social events, and service projects; serves on committees, boards, and development teams as needed to support and advance Access & Community Engagement programs

Establishes and coordinates an effective and efficient data management process that guides strategic direction, decision-making, and resource development for the division and its programs

Collaborates with members of the division and College leadership team to design, facilitate, and implement processes and policies for effective program operations, program delivery, and reporting; leverages principles of organizational development and data-based research methodologies for program analysis, performance improvement; quality assurance reviews, and reporting

Provides assistance with the development, administration, and monitoring of all aspects of new and existing grants for Access & Community Engagement Programs

Works collaboratively with program administration to identify resources for program development, delivery, and sustainability which includes: federal, state and local governments; private grant and foundation support; and other external funding opportunities

Collaborates with the Academic and Student Affairs Director of Grants Management to supervise all processes, procedures, and evaluation of grants

Develops and leads training, presentations, and workshops on system, process, and program management with program directors and managers

Supervises full or part-time program managers, directors, support staff or student assistants

Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Administration, or related field

Minimum of five years of relevant work experience and demonstrated success in community relations, government relations, and project management

Demonstrated experience as an administrator in an academic environment

Minimum five years of progressively responsible operations and systems management experience in either K – 12, higher education, business, or government

Demonstrated successful experience in design process, program and system improvement assessment, and evaluation

Demonstrated experience hiring, training, developing, scheduling, supervising and managing the work performance of others

Demonstrated experience maintaining, preparing, and monitoring a business area’s budget


Possesses excellent organizational and project management skills including team management, coalition building

Possesses the initiative, enthusiasm and credentials to gain the respect of all levels of constituents from community members and students, to faculty and staff, to senior administrators and community leaders, including corporate and non-profit leaders

Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity in programs, administrators, faculty, staff, students and the community

Possesses exceptional personal communication and relationship building skills, including listening, oral and written communications; and ability to gather and share ideas among diverse groups

Possesses the leadership ability to build and guide a team that works effectively together to create a vision and identify new initiatives and the best ways to carry them out

Possesses innovative networking skills

Possesses exceptional grant-writing skills necessary to locate and secure outside funding and to develop internal budgetary support

Possesses working knowledge of continuous quality improvement concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

Possesses exceptional communication and presentation skills

Possesses excellent planning, organizing and problem solving skills

Possesses the ability to work independently or at remote sites without direct supervision

Knowledgeable about current trends, challenges, and opportunities in community colleges and has a vision and enthusiasm for leadership in a dynamic higher education administrative environment

Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing work environment requiring flexibility, teamwork and results orientation
