To assist the Head Football Coach with all phases of a highly competitive intercollegiate football program. To assume the role as Defensive Assistant Football Coach, which may include, defensive coordinating responsibilities and/or Secondary/Linebacker coaching responsibilities within the football program and all duties associated with that role. To understand the role of Division III athletics in the educational process and to recruit quality student-athletes which reflect and represent the quality of the University of La Verne.
Assist the Head Football Coach with all phases of a competitive Division III football program.
This position will serve as the Assistant Defensive Coach for the football program. Responsibilities to include involvement in all preparation, breakdown and planning for defensive practice and game plans.
Responsibilities may include, defensive coordinating responsibilities and/or Secondary/Linebacker coaching responsibilities. Responsibilities also include opponent scouting, video breakdown, development of daily practice planning. Will be using HUDL video software. Utilization of Front Rush software.
Work with head coach and equipment manager in the inventory of all football equipment and selection and purchase of new equipment.
Assist the Head Football Coach with recruitment of perspective student athletes; Annual recruitment goal of 10-15 student athletes. Recruiting will include both national and may include international recruitment responsibilities.
Track and monitor the academic success of the student athletes.
Assist in the supervision and professional development of Graduate Assistants in the football program.
Demonstrate working knowledge of NCAA and SCIAC rules.
Interact with all other University of La Verne constituencies.
Develop and maintain positive alumni and community relations.
Assist Athletics Department with fundraising endeavors.
Perform other duties, summer duties, special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
It is further agreed, that your assignment as an Assistant Football Coach may be terminated by the Director of Athletics following a determination that you have failed to comply with the terms and conditions of your employment, or have not performed your assigned duties in a satisfactory manner, and that the compensation which shall then be deemed to be earned by you, pursuant to this contract, shall be on a pro-rata basis. If you are found in violation of NCAA regulations you will be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations. (Bylaw 11.1.2)
The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven recruiting skills and must have a commitment to academic success and student-athlete well being.
This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a strong preference given to those with a Master’s degree.
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of football coaching experience. Minimum of 3 years of defensive experience at the college level, preferably at the division III level. Knowledge and/or experience with the 4-2-5 defensive scheme is strongly preferred.
First Aid and CPR Certifications are desired.
Candidate must have demonstrated successful recruiting ability; Strong written and oral communication skills; Knowledge of computer applications, including that for recruiting and video analysis; Strong organizational skills; Ability to manage multiple tasks.
