FULL-TIME COORDINATOR: ACADEMIC RESOURCE AND TUTORING CENTER: 37.5 hours weekly, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM with one early evening weekly. Primarily based on Lawrence Campus, with scheduled days in Haverhill. (MTA/MCCC Unit Position) One year appointment for academic year 2012-2013.
The coordinator will be responsible for managing two academic support programs: Lawrence tutoring and supplemental instruction. Collaborate closely with faculty, program coordinators, and department chairs. Provide student intake services and needs assessments, and make appropriate tutor recommendations. Design and facilitate outreach initiatives for developing supplemental instruction program. Present study-skills workshops and peer-tutor trainings. Recruit, train, and supervise peer tutors and supplemental-instruction leaders. Responsible for data- collection systems analysis, and reporting. Develop and manage websites for tutoring and supplemental instruction. Coordinate supplemental-instruction faculty-training program, and chair faculty advisory board.
Master’s Degree in Education, or related field required. Must have a minimum of two years professional experience in providing direct student-support services in a college setting, including: demonstrated experience in designing programs to increase student retention; experience in conducting college-wide student outreach and collaborating with faculty; and a demonstrated understanding of the needs of economically disadvantaged community-college students. Ability to work independently and maintain cooperative working relationships required. Classroom teaching and/or tutoring, and study-skills workshop experience preferred.
Salary: $50,785.00 - $73,639.00 with complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary calculated in compliance with MCCC/MTA classification system; Pay grade #5.
