Miami University is accepting applications/nominations for Chair of the Department of Nursing, within the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences. The baccalaureate program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is located on Miami's regional campuses, in Hamilton and Middletown, with clinical sites extending from Cincinnati to Dayton in southwestern Ohio. The department maintains a selective admission process.
The new chairperson will begin in August 2015.
Responsibilities include: instructional program development and quality improvement; development and promotion of quality scholarship; providing leadership in professional service; faculty and staff recruiting, development, and evaluation; student recruiting; program promotion; leadership and planning; serving as a liaison with local, state, and national professional organizations and accrediting bodies; cultivation of external support; advancing campus, school, and university goals including advocacy for multidisciplinary collaboration within the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences; and budgets, facilities, and scheduling. The Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences.
Doctoral Degree; Master's in Nursing; established record of teaching, service, and research appropriate for appointment to a tenured position within nursing at the rank of Associate Professor; demonstrated leadership experience; ability to work in a collegial fashion; and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be eligible for licensing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. Appointment to the rank of Professor requires appropriate record of teaching, scholarship and service.
Doctoral Degree in Nursing strongly preferred. Academic leadership experience is desired as is a broad understanding of the Discipline of Nursing and its potential future directions. We seek a candidate who is flexible, visionary, creative and energetic and who demonstrates an ability and passion for leading a faculty and staff totaling twenty individuals
