The Instructional/ePortfolio Designer is a full-time, exempt administrative position that reports to the Director of MSU Denver’s Center for Faculty Development (CFD), a center that provides programs and activities to assist faculty in all stages of their careers. The Instructional/ePortfolio Designer provides initial training and ongoing support of the institution’s electronic portfolio development initiatives, and works collaboratively with the Director, faculty and departments to provide course design, development, and support of online and blended learning courses. The Instructional/ePortfolio Designer will have a strong educational and pedagogical background, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and possess the ability to effectively use collaboration techniques in working with individuals and teams with diverse personalities. The Instructional/ePortfolio Designer will also be available on nights and weekends as needed for related business or conference travel.
ePortfolio administration and operations (50%):
1. Offer bi-weekly consultation hours, one-on-one meetings, and phone assistance with faculty regarding the preparation and on-line submission of their ePortfolio activity report system, Sabbatical Leave Application or Reassigned Time Applications.
2. Coordinate with other institutional units to provide Digital Measures system support.
3. Host hands-on Digital Measures workshops.
4. Maintain the MSU Denver Digital Measures webpage at www.msudenver.edu/digitalmeasures that offers user documentation, FAQs, consultation hours, and general information.
5. Update documentation and FAQs at the beginning of each review year and as needed based on process or system changes/issues.
6. Assist in the development and instructional effectiveness pertaining to course ePortfolio delivery and use.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
eLearning and instruction technology (50%):
1. Works in a team environment to assist faculty with the development of courses that include effective teaching and assessment strategies for web-based and other technology-mediated environments.
2. Design training materials about eLearning.
3. Brings instructional design expertise to the project team for curricular development, delivery, and review.
4. Assist faculty in developing new courses and maintain existing courses, and provides periodic reports on course development projects, while meeting established deadlines.
5. Assists in the development and review of quality standards and instructional effectiveness pertaining to course development and delivery.
6. Investigates and evaluates new pedagogical and technology-mediated learning initiatives
Assists faculty with multimedia software use and instructional technology integration
7. Collaborates with a variety of campus constituencies.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or Instructional Technology.
2. Two years of working experience in higher education using a variety of approaches to teaching and learning.
3. Experience evaluating, selecting, and/or using emerging instructional technologies.
4. Experience working independently and meeting deadlines/expectations.
5. Experience designing training materials.
1. Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or Instructional Technology, with four years experience in higher education related to the position.
2. Experience with Digital Measures or other comparable ePortfolio systems.
3. Experience designing online college-level courses using Blackboard, Quality Matters, or other comparable learning management systems.
4. Experience developing digital multimedia (Camtasia, Captivate, or Jing preferred).
5. Experience teaching, at the college or university level with online teaching certifications.
6. Experience with managing multiple projects and working cooperatively in a team environment.
7. Applied knowledge of ADA 508 regulations and universal design.
8. Applied knowledge of fair use and TEACH Act guidelines.
