The Department is especially interested in candidates whose research is theoretically driven and demonstrates an innovative approach to the study of film and culture. Evidence of a rigorous research agenda and commitment to excellence in teaching are required. Although film should be the main field of expertise, the candidate must also be qualified and willing to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Hispanic literatures and cultures.


The Department of Modern Languages and Classics at The University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Hispanic Film starting August 16, 2015. Secondary interests in Literary Theory and Transatlantic Studies are highly preferred. Additional interest in Luso-Brazilian film is welcome as well. The Department is especially interested in candidates whose research is theoretically driven and demonstrates an innovative approach to the study of film and culture. Evidence of a rigorous research agenda and commitment to excellence in teaching are required. Although film should be the main field of expertise, the candidate must also be qualified and willing to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in Hispanic literatures and cultures. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish is required. Must have Ph.D. in hand by August 15, 2015. Review of applications will begin immediately.
