The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering ( at The University of Alabama seeks applications for a tenure-track position in the area of computational modeling in materials science and engineering.


The Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering (MTE) at The University of Alabama (UA) seeks outstanding applicants at the Assistant, Associate Professor level. We are looking for a strong candidate in the areas of transport phenomena in materials processing, chemical-metallurgy, and ferrous and nonferrous process metallurgy. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program and to excel in teaching.
The University of Alabama has experienced unprecedented growth and prosperity over the last decade including significant increases in undergraduate and graduate enrollment within the College of Engineering and the completion of the new North Engineering Research Center which has more than 100,000 net square feet dedicated to materials research. The MTE department is currently comprised of nine full-time faculty members with active funded research grants and enrolls more than 130 undergraduate and graduate students. The Department has a strong history of research and teaching in the areas of solidification science and molten metal processing, materials characterization, mechanical behavior, thin film deposition, magnetic materials and devices, and computational materials science.
