|Saint Mary’s College invites applications for a full-time exempt Major Gifts Officer to manage and build a portfolio of 150 major gift prospects capable of making gifts in the $25,000 to $1,000,000 range. S/he will develop annual goals for each prospective donor in the portfolio. Working closely with campus partners, s/he will coordinate volunteer prospect screening efforts, coordinate cultivation and stewardship strategies and will staff and conduct solicitations. Work in a highly collaborative and culturally diverse campus environment. Effectively communicate with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, alumni and donors. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the mission of the College, which is informed, animated and expressed through its Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts traditions|
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Development, the Major Gifts Officer manages a portfolio of high-net worth prospects and participates in all aspects of the gift cycle, including initiating contacts with potential major gift donors and developing cultivation strategies for them. Maintains an active schedule of an average of 20 contacts per month with individuals whose gift capacity is rated in the $50,000 to $1,000,000 range requiring a significant number of cold calls be made weekly. Moves potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure, and maintains stewardship contacts with donors. In addition to closing major gifts, the Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for closing annual leadership gifts from portfolio. Works collaboratively and strategically with development staff and volunteers to monitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations. Serves as a staff liaison/development advocate for 2-3 campus programs and/or Schools. Promotes the College’s fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with members of the Board of Trustees, Regents, key volunteers, and College staff. Understands the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them and the College.
