Job Responsibilities

• Provides oversight of clinical course content and activities of the Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) Program, in such areas as First Responder, EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, EMT-Paramedic, BLS, ACLS, PALS and refresher courses as necessary
• Schedules EMT student clinical rotations
• Advises and counsels students on proper documentation techniques and provides feedback to students
• Periodically meets with clinical site manager to update changes
• Helps to develop clinical sites for the students
• Assists in the development of policies related to the EMT program
• Reinforces the instruction provided by faculty by utilizing a variety of learning modalities in the labs including the HPS with computerized scenarios, manikins and models, equipment and supplies for demonstration and return demonstration
• Establishes an effective record-keeping system to ensure program and students meet and maintain accreditation standards
• Assists with student instruction in EMT skills lab as needed
• Administers competency testing to EMT students
• Anticipates and meets all customer needs accurately, professionally, and with a commitment to customer satisfaction
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


• Associate’s in EMS and a minimum of three years of EMT experience in an EMT environment
• Current State of Ohio EMS Instructor certification
o Assistant EMS Instructor (AEMSI) will be considered with ability to obtain EMS Instructor (EMSI) within 12 months of hire.\
• Current BLS and ACLS Instructor certification
• Demonstrated experience making sound decisions that affect a work unit or team
• Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic and abstract problem solving methods in adaptive situations
• Current Ohio Paramedic Certification

• Possesses excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to promote student success
• Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of EMS theories, concepts and practices with the ability to use in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
• Demonstrated basic project management skills
• Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Blackboard (or equivalent program)
• Demonstrated basic proficiency with Banner (or equivalent program)
• Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
• Ability to collaborate, persuade, gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas on significant projects
• Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality
• Ability to effectively respond to requests from multiple levels of the College in various departments
• Ability to research and analyze issues and develop solutions
• Works accurately with great attention to detail

Standard College hours of business 8:30am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.
