FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION/ FIRST YEAR SEMINAR: Division of Foundational Studies, and Liberal Arts & Sciences, Lawrence/Haverhill Campus. (MCCC/MTA Unit Position) Anticipated start date; September, 2015 (Based on funding availability).
Teach First Year Seminar (FYS) and occasional courses in area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include: serve as Curriculum Coordinator for FYS and faculty leader for the First Year Experience (FYE) Steering Committee; collect data on FYE initiatives; collaborate with faculty and staff across divisions to develop program- specific sections; participate in writing and reading across the curriculum activities; advise students; maintain office hours; and participate in college service. Teaching assignments may require travel to two different campus sites. Other related responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean.
Master's degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences with an Interdisciplinary focus. Coursework in Education. Equivalent of two years of experience teaching at the community college level with substantial experience teaching student success courses and experience with First Year Experience programs. Ability to direct own research. Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching. Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with colleagues within and across disciplines. Evidence of excellent communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to the community college mission, assisting educationally disadvantaged, first generation, multi-cultural, bilingual and developmental college student populations essential.
Demonstrated willingness and ability to integrate appropriate technology into teaching strategies. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.
Anticipated starting salary range is $42,921 - $65,000 per academic year; complete fringe benefit package. Actual salary will be determined in accordance with classification determination of MCC/MTA salary schedule commensurate with education and experience.
