Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking candidates for a full time (1.0 FTE) prenatal genetic counseling position in the Division of Medical Genetics and Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Candidates for this Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor position should be ABGC eligible/certified. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

The counselor will be responsible for providing prenatal and preconception counseling for a diverse patient population within in a comprehensive high risk perinatal center, with additional opportunities for genetic counseling and case management at satellite clinics and through telemedicine. Faculty responsibilities include teaching of medical students, residents, fellows, and other allied health professionals. The candidate should also have an interest in clinical research.

The Division of Medical Genetics includes two clinical geneticists, six genetic counselors, a clinical nurse, a metabolic dietician, a Ph.D. basic scientist, and a Ph.D. molecular/cytogeneticist. The prenatal counselors work closely with faculty from the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women's Health, which includes one obstetrician/geneticist and ten perinatologists.

Prenatal genetic services are provided in conjunction with ultrasound and maternal-fetal medicine services at SSM St. Mary's Health Center, the Fetal Care Institute at Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, and several sites across the region. We offer comprehensive prenatal and preconception counseling and testing services including chorionic villus sampling, amniocentesis, non-invasive prenatal testing, sequential screening, multiple marker screening, genetic carrier and diagnostic testing, and diagnostic ultrasound. Although experience in prenatal genetic counseling is preferred, new graduates are encouraged to apply.
